PGA SOMPO Team Building 2024: Synergizing through our Core Values
PGA SOMPO held its team building event from June 29 to July 1, 2024 in Bohol. The 3-day event aimed to strengthen unity, collaboration, and a deeper connection to the Company’s core values.
It was also an opportunity for employees to take a break from work and bond with each other while exploring Bohol’s famous attractions. Likewise, the event strengthened the team spirit and out of the box thinking as groups deal with different gamified challenges.
The pastel-themed fellowship night featuring the search for Mr. and Ms. Pantropiko, a lively cross-dress competition provided an unusual twist to the night. With six pairs vying for the title, it highlighted the Company’s core values in an extraordinary way. Mr. Terukazu Matsubara, PGA Sompo’s President and CEO also shared the Company’s goals and the importance of being proactive.
The event has clearly afforded everyone with unforgettable memories and a renewed sense of belonging and connection as they return to work. Truly, it was a successful team building.
Sompo and PGA SOMPO’s Commitment to Risk Management at the PARIMA Conference 2024.
Sompo and PGA SOMPO teamed up at the Parima Conference to address the growing challenges of global risks. Paddy Harman, Senior Underwriter for Credit & Political Risk at Sompo International gave an important talk on the need for businesses to stay engaged, adaptable, and resilient in the face of geopolitical risks.
The Parima Conference provided a valuable opportunity for industry leaders to share knowledge and strategies to manage emerging risks. PGA SOMPO Photo Contest 2023: Showcasing the World, Secured by Travel Insurance
PGA SOMPO organized a photo contest centered around the theme "Capturing the World, Secured by Travel Insurance." The contest, which commenced on March 13, garnered an impressive turnout with over 100 participants showcasing their photographic skills. The contest aimed to emphasize the significance of travel insurance in ensuring a secure and worry-free journey.
Winners were officially announced on July 6, coinciding with the Company's 32nd Anniversary celebration. The Conventional and Mobile Photography winners were awarded a cash prize of P15,000 and P10,000, respectively, in addition to receiving travel insurance coverage. This event underscores PGA SOMPO's dedication to promoting the advantages of travel insurance through the lenses of exceptionally talented photographers.
PGA SOMPO's 2023 Team Building Retreat: Fostering Collaboration and Growth
PGA Sompo held its annual team building and company outing on 26-28 May 2023 at Costabella Tropical Beach Hotel in Cebu City.
The 3-day event which started with an early morning flight from Manila to Cebu City was highlighted by a Hawaiian-themed party. It included games and activities that aimed to promote a healthy engagement involving wits, strategy, collaboration, and teamwork. Further, the city tour and island-hopping enabled employees to explore the beautiful landmarks and tourist spots around the city.
It was another unforgettable experience for the employees as they exercise their skills to overcome challenges through teamwork, learn to effectively communicate with their colleagues, and maintain work and life balance.

ASG SIGNS ANEW WITH PGA SOMPO INSURANCE CORPORATION
After more than a year of successful partnership of Aftersales Group Philippines and PGA SOMPO Insurance Corporation that started last June 2021, the partnership between the two has been renewed during the renewal of collaboration agreement held last September 2022.
From PGA SOMPO, Mr. Fumihiko Harada (President and CEO), Mr. Taichi Yamamoto (Senior Vice-President) and Mr. Rhoderick Tanoy (Head of Business Development) were present during the ceremony.
From ASG, Mr. Frank Vernooji, the Chairman of the Board together with Mr. Rob Pijnenburg (COO and Director) and Ms. Suzanne Yazon were also present during the renewal of collaboration agreement.
"We are very much excited and that we are going to offer a lot of surprises to our clients. Given that, with gadget protect and PGA Sompo, that collaboration agreement, that handshake is no longer just a symbol of friendship but a symbol of a long-term business partnership." Suzanne Yazon (CEO of Aftersales Group Philippines) said.
The signed agreement will be effective for the next three years which will give more opportunities for both PGA SOMPO and AFTERSALES GROUP PHILIPPINES.
PGA SOMPO Holds In-Person Team Building After COVID-19 Lockdowns
After two years, PGA Sompo held its annual team building and company outing in-person on 13-14 May 2022 at La Luz Beach Resort.
Employees engaged in both amusing and challenging activities which allowed them to work dynamically together while promoting creative and collaborative thinking. They were also treated to various water activities which gave them opportunities to bond and reconnect with their colleagues after working apart due to the pandemic.
The shared experiences, even amidst health and safety restrictions strengthened team spirit which made the affair even more meaningful and memorable. It is with high hopes that all company events will be conducted face-to-face from hereon.

PGA SOMPO Holds Post-Valentine’s Celebration
On 28 February 2022, PGAS employees gathered for a post-Valentine’s celebration. The event also marked the start of a hybrid work setup following the improved COVID-19 situation in the Philippines. Returning employees were welcomed with red heart balloons and chocolates adorning their desks upon arrival at the office.

PGA SOMPO has been consistent with its innovative use of digital platforms particularly social media in promoting the Company's products and services. PGA SOMPO bagged "Star Brand Awards for Non-Life Insurance" for the year 2021 given by Philippine Social Media Examiner. The awarding ceremony was held last December 15, 2021, at Okada Manila Grand Ballroom in Paranaque City.
It is apparent that social media platforms are being utilized by businesses in connecting with prospective clients, drive traffic to websites and advertisements to increase sales, and generate awareness. The Philippine Social Media Examiner, as an online data and research entity, aims to acknowledge and highlight noteworthy achievements of a corporate brand that achieve business excellence thru PHILIPPINE SOCIAL MEDIA AWARDS.
This is the second time that PGA SOMPO was awarded as star brand awardee in recognition of its innovative contribution and exemplary performance through its exceptional usage of social media platforms. Last December 2020 the Company has received the same award. PGA SOMPO will be an eligible nominee of Star Brand's Hall of Famer for the year 2022.
PGA SOMPO WINS “MOST INNOVATIVE DIGITAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN” FROM INTERNATIONAL FINANCE AWARDS
PGA SOMPO was selected once again with another recognition from an international award-giving body by bagging the "Most Innovative Digital Marketing Campaign“. The Company was awarded by the International Finance Awards for its "As Easy As 1-2-3" campaign.
In 2018, PGA SOMPO first launched the campaign. Through the Company's well-designed sales portal, this initiative helped PGAS’ customers to understand the product and have a better customer experience. This year, PGA SOMPO also launched its new product – CondoCARE; the same campaign was also utilized to ensure consistent quality for the customers' journey in buying our products.

PGA SOMPO CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY IN THE VIRTUAL SPACE
July 1, 2021 - The month of July holds a special meaning for the employees and management of PGA Sompo Insurance Corporation. The Company recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary with a virtual event for the employees featuring virtual games, digital contests and exciting announcements from the management.
According to PGA SOMPO Chairman, Mr. Robert Coyiuto, Jr. "Thirty years on, it is clear that the joint venture between Prudential Guarantee and Assurance, Inc. and Sompo Holdings, Inc. remains a formidable and productive one.
The joint venture was considered a strategic breakthrough in the domestic non-life insurance industry as it capitalized on each company’s strengths. The unity is ceaseless in bringing the country's insurance industry to greater heights.
PGA SOMPO’s 2021 TEAMBUILDING GOES ONLINE
With its commitment to constantly find ways to create a meaningful bond and interaction among its employees, PGA SOMPO continues to conduct teambuilding and other employee engagement activities regularly even amidst the current pandemic situation.
The annual teambuilding is one of the Company events that many PGA SOMPO employees look forward to. The usual 2-day activities during pre-pandemic times gave them the opportunity to reinforce their camaraderie and share quality time outside of work.
Beyond the ongoing restrictions which prevent the employees to be physically together, PGA SOMPO successfully held this event virtually on May 24-25, 2021. The activities provided the employees with the opportunity to reconnect and paved the way to continually show support, care, understanding and appreciation for each other.
While the event lasted for just two half-days, the activities not only reconnected the employees but also left a lasting impact on everyone as they got to know their colleagues in a much deeper level, recognizing one another’s vulnerabilities and strengths and how these complement each other toward the achievement of shared goals.
PGA SOMPO LAUNCHES SALAMAT POST
Amid the challenges brought about by COVID-19 pandemic, PGA SOMPO believes that communication and interaction among employees remain to be paramount as they navigate through the ongoing crisis. While majority of the employees are still working from home, the Company launched “Salamat Post” on 15 March 2021.
Coined after “Salamat po”, the Filipino words which means “Thank you”, “Salamat Post” is a peer-to-peer appreciation platform in the Employee Portal that enables employees to thank their colleagues directly. A channel to boost communication, it enables the employees to let their peers know that their contribution makes a difference, and that they are appreciated when it happens. This appreciation also comes with a bonus as it allows the sender of the message to give points to their colleagues which is convertible to cash.
Anchored on PGA SOMPO’s mission and core values, this platform is envisioned not just as a tool to enable appreciation or recognition for good work but also to build a scalable culture that will promote key cultural drivers such as teamwork, trust, collaboration, communication and respect.

PGA SOMPO’s Partnership with WISH FM Strengthens the Company’s Digital & Media Exposure
PGA SOMPO has partnered with Wish FM 107.5 - one of the country's leading media stations in terms of digital platform with more than 12 million followers and subscribers. The said partnership has opened its door to a broader range of audience to promote PGA SOMPO’S products and services through different activities.
An interview with PGA SOMPO’s President and CEO, Mr. Fumihiko Harada, was conducted last January 15. The interview was heard online and on-air, that focuses on promoting the company’s goals in providing non-life insurance products and services designed to protect its customers and their possession. PGA SOMPO also took part in Wish FM’s Music Awards – an annual event that pays tribute to artists who have given significant contributions in the Philippine music industry. The event was livestreamed online last January 17, that garnered about 40,000 live online viewers, with its broadcast emanating from one of the Asia’s largest indoor arenas, the Araneta Coliseum. PGAS products were showcased in the said event.
Aside from those events, PGA SOMPO’s partnership with Wish FM will continue for the coming months. Various digital marketing activities like social media branded games, another set of interview and more digital exposures have been lined up.
PGA SOMPO’S EMPLOYEE PORTAL IS NOW AVAILABLE 24/7
As the year 2021 was ushered in, PGA Sompo’s new Employee Portal was officially launched in January. It provides employees access to important HR and payroll-related information anytime, anywhere via their computer, device or smartphone.
This in-house developed web-based facility allows employees to update personal information, view daily time records, file leaves, official business and overtime requests as well as access manuals, company forms and other employee-related government forms. It can also be used by employees to record their attendance and daily activities while working from home or reporting on-site.
The new Employee Portal will prove most useful amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation. As majority of the employees are still working from home, it is also a tool to inform employees of significant information, announcements or corporate news.
The platform was developed in a way that will allow the Digital and Technological Services team to integrate more innovations and exciting features in the future with the ultimate goal of continuously enhancing employee work experience.
PGA SOMPO receives Philippine Social Media Star Brand Awards
Highlighting PGA SOMPO's innovative use of digital platforms particularly social media, the company bagged the "Philippine Social Media Star Brand Awards for Non-Life Insurance".
The awarding ceremony was held online last December 28, 2020 broadcasting live from various online platforms emanating from One Shangri-La Place Ballroom in Mandaluyong City.
'Philippine Social Media Star Brand Awards' is only being conferred to selected brands and companies in recognition of innovative contribution and exemplary performance through its exceptional usage of social media platforms. Among all non-life insurance companies in the Philippines, PGA SOMPO is the only recipient of this prestigious award for the year 2020.

SJNK WELFARE FOUNDATION AND PGA SOMPO HOLD OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN AND CANCER SURVIVORS
On Fejoined Kythe Foundation, Inc., a non-profit, non-stock organization which aims towards improving the quality of life of over 11,000 hospitalized children with cancer and other chronic illness through its Child Life Program.
Mr. Masahiro Sawa of SJNK Welfare Foundation together with PGA SOMPO’s executive officers turned over the International Grant to Kythe Foundation in the presence of the primary beneficiaries of the grant - the cancer survivors. The grant will assist them in their continuing education with the goal of enabling them to have a better future.
Last February 7, 2020, PGA SOMPO and SJNK Welfare Foundation simultaneously volunteered and spent time with pediatric patients at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, one of Kythe’s partner hospitals and engaged them in various activities that allowed them to learn, play and experience a sense of normal childhood.

PGA Sompo Joined 27 th PTAA Travel Tour Expo 2020
PGA Sompo has successfully exhibited at the 27th PTAA TravelTour Expo 2020, the most visited travel expo event in the country, on February 7-9 at the SMX MOA Convention Center to promote the TravelJOY product. A total of 367 booths from different travel tour companies, airlines, and travel insurance companies were present at the event.
The event was spearheaded by the Marketing team in collaboration with the other departments as part of PGA Sompo’s plan to reach higher brand awareness and engagement by participating in local events. Attendees who visited the PGAS booth were able to play exciting games for them to win their prizes and avail great travel insurance deals and coupons exclusive to the event. This event also marked the debut of the Sompony Quest game which was developed by RHQ and attendees were able to enjoy this new game as the first players. Sompony the mascot was also a huge hit in the event with several attendees wanting to do a photo op session with him. Overall, the event was a success with PGAS as one of the most visited booth during the expo.
PGA Sompo Launched “TravelJOY As Easy as 1 2 3” Campaign
PGA Sompo has launched their first ever digital advertisement video campaign titled as “TravelJOY As Easy as 1-2-3” on January 18 to kickstart the promotion of travel insurance products and services using various digital platforms for the year 2020.
The digital advertisement featured Kakai Bautista who is a famous comedienne, singer, actress, and host in the Philippines. Different features of the TravelJOY product was highlighted including the coverage of flight delay, medical expense, hijacking, and others. PGAS took part in the pre-production up to the post-production stage of completing the digital advertisement video. The campaign was launched on different social networking sites such as Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram. A total of 169,566 views was accumulated during the first 2 weeks of the campaign. PGAS will launch more campaigns for this year to further promote new and existing products and services.
